Care Home Flygt Concertor Pumping Station

Site Challenge

PolyPump was recently asked to size a new packaged pumping station to direct waste to an existing treatment plant on site. The client had previously extended the care home and with that had a newer, larger treatment plant installed to serve the whole building. The existing inlets led to an older failing treatment plant at the other end of the site and therefore needed to be re-directed to the larger treatment plant without surging the new plant with too much flow. 

Site Solution

Care homes are some of the most challenging sites to pump waste from, because of this we needed a set of pumps that were up to the task, they also needed to be controlled in a manor that meant we didn't surge the new treatment plant with too much flow. We also needed to minimise any potential blockages, all whilst operating at the highest efficiency to avoid costly energy bills for the client.

Working closely with a long standing customer of ours, PolyPump sized and supplied a TOPS Pumping Station fitted with Concertor HT pumps from Flygt. The Flygt Concertor features an ultra-high efficiency motor and impeller, keeping the costs down for the client and effectively paying for itself in the future with it's energy savings. With its integrated intelligence we could run the pumps slower and at a tighter differential to avoid surging the plant. It's clever anti-blockage protocols allows the Concertor to actively detect and prevent blockages by running the impeller back and forth until the debris is shifted, this reduces downtime and removes the need for emergency call outs.

If all that's not enough, we also installed a Xylem Avensor telemetry system, this enables us to keep an eye on the station 24/7 in real time and alert on-site maintenance of any issues before it reaches a critical stage.
